VR Carthage

Carthage is a commune in the governorate of Tunis, Tunisia. It bears the name and includes in its area the archaeological site of Carthage. Founded in 1919, Carthage is about 15 km east-northeast of Tunis, located between the towns of Sidi Bou Said to the north and Le Kram to the south.

Founded in the 9th century BC. AD on the Gulf of Tunis, Carthage established from the 6th century a commercial empire extending to a large part of the Mediterranean world and was the seat of a brilliant civilization. During the long Punic Wars, it occupied territories of Rome, but the latter finally destroyed it in 146 BC. A second Carthage, Roman this time, was then founded on its ruins.
