Ghar El Melh, meaning "salt cave" and formerly called Porto Farina, is a coastal town in northeastern Tunisia.

Ghar El Melh is located about fifty kilometers north of Tunis and about forty kilometers east of Bizerte. Attached to the governorate of Bizerte, the municipality has 5,345 inhabitants in 2014.

Built at the foot of Djebel Nadour, the city "Ghar El Melh" is located at the bottom of the lagoon bearing its name. The lagoon, covering an area of ​​about 3,000 hectares and bordered by about twenty kilometers of shoreline, is shallow.
